What’s the difference between a Dietitian & a Nutritionist?
A nutritionist may have formal qualifications, but the title is not regulated in Australia. This means that individuals with varying levels of nutrition knowledge can call themselves nutritionists.
A dietitian, however, is a regulated professional who has undergone advanced training and can provide medical nutrition therapy. All dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are dietitians.
Our dietitians are registered with Dietitians Australia and meet strict criteria to be part of the Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) program—the only credential recognised by Medicare, The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) & Private health insurers.
Why see a dietitian?
Everyone can benefit from seeing a dietitian, but it’s especially important if you:
- Have lost a significant amount of weight
- Have been diagnosed with a chronic condition (e.g., diabetes, high cholesterol, or IBS)
- Have recently left the hospital and need to regain strength
- Want expert guidance on improving your nutrition
Our dietitians use your most recent blood test results to check for deficiencies in key vitamins and minerals. With professional support, improved eating habits can lead to better overall health, well-being, and quality of life.
